Hector Cortez is a filmmaker from the San Fernando Valley, the place where you're always able to find parking – free, too. The son of immigrants in search of the American dream, he was inspired by the films his father rented from the local video store. Films like Stand and Deliver, La Bamba and It's A Wonderful Life. Filmmakers he admires include Guillermo del Toro, Frank Capra, Gregory Nava, Alfonso Cuaron and many more.
Hector's love for film and television led him to pursue a film degree at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television. Since graduating, Hector has worked various crew positions such as camera assistant, digital loader, production assistant, editor, and camera operator for a variety of clients including Univision and the Latin Grammys. His experience spans feature films, music videos, commercials, web series and documentaries. Well-versed in the productions process, Hector’s true passion is writing and directing and he hopes to one day do so professionally for both film and television.
And a bonus, if you hire Hector, he’ll bring you a bowl of his mother’s delicious pozole and rice.
